A Fresh Start at Underhill: Levens’ Jubilee Orchard Takes Root
Levens’ Jubilee Orchard is starting to take shape at Underhill, with the first apple and pear trees now planted thanks to local volunteers and grant funding from Westmorland and Furness Council. More trees, including local damson varieties, will follow in the autumn — part of a long-term plan to create a thriving community space for the village.

Bike Repair Station Installed at Levens Village Shop
Levens Village Shop now has a covered Bike Repair Station with essential tools for quick fixes. The bike rack has also returned in a safer location. Thanks to the Morecambe Bay Partnership for funding. Cyclists can stop for repairs – and maybe a cake break too!

Village Hall Build Races Against Time – Cost-Saving Plan Brings Hope for 2.5-Year Deadline
At the new village hall site, the project progresses, albeit steadily, towards the construction phase. Summary: village hall costs cut to match funds, affordable housing still in limbo.

Spring 2025 parish council newsletter
Welcome to this first Parish Council Newsletter of 2025. I will start by thanking all the people involved in the erection and decoration of the Christmas Tree on The Green, especially overcoming the problems caused by the weather. The “switch on” saw a good number of people attend and I think all enjoyed the event. I certainly did and thanks also to everyone who contributed to the Christmas Fund by whatever means.

With these upgrades, the playing fields are set to be better than ever. And with fewer muddy trainers, we’re sure parents will be just as happy as the players! 😊

Village's Christmas Lights Switch-On Brightens with Community Spirit!

Levens Community Project - Autumn 2024 update
At present, the Project is deeply engaged in the procurement process whereby a contractor will be appointed to take on the build phase for the new village hall and the affordable houses.

You can now freshly test your knowledge of South Lakeland on foot by picking up a copy this 256-page paperback by author Bern Marshall, released just a couple of months ago. If you need a little inspiration to try out a new walk (or 36), this book, which includes 100 illustrations, may be the ideal companion.

Villager Annie Rawlinson takes on the Run Britannia Rat Race to raise money for Levens Playing Fields
An absolute inspiration to us all, villager Annie Rawlinson completed the ~1000 mile journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats on foot on 5th July 2024, raising money for both the Dogs Trust and our Levens Village Playing Fields.

Levens Community Project - Summer 2024 update
In the previous issue, the project was pleased to report that it had issued invitations to tender to several building contractors for the construction phase for the new village hall and the affordable houses. That process has gone well and each of the five contractors approached has submitted quotes for consideration.
