Big plans ahead for Levens Playing Fields

The team at Levens Playing Fields have shared their plans for the renovation and refurbishment of the current site. We’re delighted to share these here and our congratulations to all involved on driving this project forward.

“We’ve been working hard on pulling together plans and funding to renovate our three hard standing courts and the grass football pitch.

A bit of an update…

🎾 Phase 1

Turn the single court into a tennis court. The surface is pretty good quality so it will just need repainting and a new net installing (picture).

🔨 Phase 2

Create a new gateway/access between the new tennis court and existing double courts. Add a new gate plus ramp next to the zip wire into the double courts. Remove the flood light poles.

⭐️ Funding is pretty much in place for the above and should take place in Spring.

🥅 Phase 3

Completely resurface the double courts and turn it into a double MUGA (multi-use games area). This will include a pitch on one side with line markings and goals for multiple sports, some kind of barrier/seating down the middle and a mess about/chill zone on the other side. What do you think of the plans? Anything else you’d like to see? 🏓♟️🏏

⚽️ And somewhere in the middle we’re hoping to start taking better care of our football pitch… overseeding, decompaction, line markings and new nets.

🙋🏻‍♀️We’re in the process of applying for grants for phase 3 which we anticipate will cost around £70,000. If you have any skills in this area and want to help out, get in touch!”
