Roadworks starting on Church Rd - Monday 1st February

28/1/2021

Roadworks are now confirmed to start on Church Road this Monday 1st February for Levens B4RN Project to move plant and make final inspections before starting to cut the road and verge on Tuesday 2nd February.

The first phase will be near the top – starting on the grass verge close to Greengate Gardens and working downhill.

The first few days will see some road crossings done on the upper section of Church Road so there will be some 2-way traffic management in place in this area.

Exciting times for our Levens B4RN Volunteers.

We wish them well

Footpath, Levens Lane

20/1/2021

Levens Parish Council is pleased to see the interest on Facebook about the
possibility of creating a pedestrian route from the village down Levens Lane to the
junction of the A590.
The Parish Council shares this interest and has promoted the need to provide this
route for many years, as reported regularly in the Minutes of its meetings. Positive
interest from local residents is to be welcomed and lends weight to its already
substantial efforts to bring local authorities, statutory agencies, funders and local
stakeholders together to agree a viable and achievable proposal. As a result,
Cumbria County Council is now due to take this a stage further in the coming months
in a bid to prepare an acceptable plan that will assist the sometimes delicate
negotiations that are taking place. The Parish Council would stress that as with all its
work on behalf of the local community, it approaches this from a non-political standpoint.
