LEVENS PARISH COUNCIL – SPRING NEWSLETTER 2011

Message from the Chairman
The Parish Council AGM was held recently and I have been elected chairman for the following year. I would like to thank my fellow councillors for their work and commitment this last year. In twelve months time there will be elections for the eight seats on the council so if you have an interest in the village please get involved. The parish council members give up their time to make decisions on behalf of the villagers and please be assured we endeavour to do so to the benefit of village life. If you would like to raise a topic for discussion please put it in writing to the clerk at least a week before the next meeting and it can be discussed at the following meeting.

Roger Mason, Chairman

SLDC, Local Area Development Framework -Allocations of Land
Consultation has taken place on the Allocation of Land Document, the consultation period ran from 15 January – 15 April. SLDC held a “drop in session” on 28 February and the Parish Council held a public meeting straight after, this was well attended and ideas and opinions were heard.
Levens residents got together to form a Residents Group and they produced a questionnaire which was distributed to every household in Levens seeking their opinions. The Residents Group have submitted their response to SLDC and copied all replies that they received to the Parish Council, the Parish Council are grateful for their help.

SLDC Housing Survey
SLDC, working with the Lake District National Park Authority, has commissioned a company called arc4 Ltd (assisted by Cumbria Rural Housing Trust) to undertake a Housing Survey for the District. It is important to get a good return rate for the survey, so that a detailed picture can be created showing the housing situations in different parts of South Lakeland, to inform present and future housing plans. Surveys will be delivered to every household in early June and are to be completed and posted back Freepost to SLDC by 24 June 2011
