The Litter Group was set up following the Village Plan. Several people put their names down on a list saying they would be willing to help with litter picking. They were contacted and each was given an area near their home where they periodically pick up litter. In addition a group litter pick on the village outskirts is organised every 6 months or so in Spring and Autumn. The District Council lend gloves and litter pickers, provide bags and then arrange to collect the bags.
Meanwhile the regular litter picking round the village is much appreciated. When walking round the village I note that crisp bags and toffee papers etc often left on the wayside. Please can everyone keep an eye out and try to encourage anyone they see depositing litter to pick it up. It is easier to do then, than when the wet has got to it.
I have recently heard of someone who was fined £60 for throwing a cigarette end out of a car window!

See the above web-site. FRIDAY 23 APRIL -St George's Day
Please can everyone make an effort to pick up any litter they see particularly on that day in the Big Tidy Up as part of the crusade to create a clean country that we can be proud of.
The recycling site in Lowgate has now had some tarmac laid. Please note that only plastic, domestic cardboard, clothes and shoes can be recycled here.
DOG FOULING Recent reports suggest that this is becoming a problem in some parts of the village.
Please can all dog owners make sure that they clean up after their dogs and dispose of the waste hygenically.
