At the AGM in October 2011, it was proposed and voted in favour of, changing the name from 'Levens PTA' to that of 'Friends of Levens School' (FOLS) which reflected the help received from the wider community within the village. So in the future if you see activities planned with the Friends of Levens School heading it is the former PTA group under a new name!

Friends of Levens School  (FOLS) is a group made up of parents/carers of children at the school and teachers who meet about once a term (for a social drink!) to come up with ideas of fund raising activities to raise money for extra equipment, educational/social trips and other ideas suggested by staff/ children, that might be needed at the school, which can't always be met by the school budget.

FOLS is made up of  a voluntary committee consisting of a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer  (voted in at the AGM) and others who are part of the Committee who take on various tasks as and when an event is drawing near.

Any parent/carer/relative is able to join the Committee or just  be a 'willing helper' at a fund raiser.  As children move through the school and leave, it is important that we keep the group going as it brings in vital extra funds for all the pupils at  Levens school.

FOLS would love to hear from any parent /carer who would be interested in joining and giving a little time and having fun doing whatever fundraisers we come up with and share new ideas they may have for raising money....

The Annual Christmas Fair at the school can raise over £1000 which is fantastic for such a small school and reflects the community spirit in the village in supporting this event.  This money will go towards helping the children have opportunities within their education, that may not  possible otherwise.
